What suggestions do you have for gifts for host family when traveling to Tanzania?

I’m going to Tanzania in July and I will be staying in a village. I wanted to bring “American” things for the families there. For example, I plan on bringing skittles for the kids, but what should I bring for the adults?

If anyone has traveled over there, and has other advice, please let me know. I plan on asking more questions about this.

wow how cool! why don’t you take some jewelry. Not expensive ones but american style bracelets and necklaces and stuff, they sell some cheap ones but they’re really cute. Maybe little cute coin purses or scarves.

I would suggest a pocket knife for the men.

(Dedicicated To Zulu Chief Shaka)

Hero who surpasses other heroes!
Swallow that disappears in the clouds,
Others disappearing into the heavens!
Son of Menzi!
Viper of Ndaba!
Erect, ready to strike,
It strikes the shields of men!
Father of the cock!
Why did it disappear over the mountains?
It annihilated men!
That is Shaka,
Son of Senzangakhona,
Of whom it is said, Bayede!
You are an elephant!
