This is the sixth and final volume in a series that examines the Auschwitz death camp from conception to implementation of the “final solution” which resulted in the execution of over 1100000 people. This portion gives an overview of the further atrocities suffered at the hands of Soviet “liberators” as well as some people who took justice into their own hands. Also touched on is the appalling failure of the Allies to prosecute some of the worst war criminals…and even help some of them evade prosecution.

Personally, I think we are to hard on many of the Nazis. To still be condemning this long after the war is kind of ridiculous to me. Historically it isn’t just the Germans that have had a problem with the Jews – they were persecuted throughout Europe from Russia to Spain long before there even was a Nazi Party. Why is it that only the Germans that get painted as racist murderers – when I review European history, it seems like the Jews caused problems wherever they went.
@AUKS00007107 Why don’t you just read the Wikipedia entry on Rumkowski for a BALANCED assessment of his ro;le in the Lodz ghetto.You talk absolute rubbish.! he was in many respects a pretty awful man but in many respects he was also a hero in that in the end the Lodz ghetto had more survivors than any other ghetto in Europe.If he had to give up the children it was because of orders from the naziz.To disobey these orders would have meant massive reprisals.It was a “Sophies Choice” situation .

the jewish police made very special efforts to locate all concealed children, and these efforts were mentioned in detail. Rumkowski issued very severe threats to those who hid their children. germans couldnt force him to do that…needs jews and jewishness to do these things
