The International Women’s Media Foundation 2007 Courage in Journalism Awards Honor Journalists from Mexico, Ethiopia, Iraq and Zimbabwe with a Panel Discussion at the National Geographic Society Oct. 25, 2007 in Washington, D.C.

Discussion will be moderated by Martha Raddatz, ABC News chief White House correspondent.

The IWMF will also present awards at ceremonies in New York (10/23) and Los Angeles (10/30); tickets can be purchased at: http://www.iwmf.org/network/courage.

When: Thursday, October 25, 2007, 6:30 p.m. program; 7:30 p.m. reception

Where: Gilbert H. Grosvenor Auditorium, National Geographic Society, Washington D.C.

The International Women’s Media Foundation created the Courage in Journalism Awards in 1990 to honor women journalists who have shown extraordinary strength of character and integrity while reporting the news under dangerous or difficult circumstances. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a woman journalist who has a pioneering spirit and whose determination has paved the way for future generations of women in the media.

The IWMF is a global network dedicated to strengthening the role of women in the news media worldwide as a means to further freedom of the press.
