I saw the results of a study recently that would work very well for this one. A groups studied out a local region. They graphed the area into smaller sections and charted whether the people in it trusted their neighbours barely, some, a lot, or a whole lot. The result was percentages. And it was real interesting what section within that area trusted their neighbours a whole lot. You could pick different dorms. Or different departments. You could both use survey and observation, however you want to.

How about smokers on campus? I’ve noticed my school, which is quite small, has a ton of them (especially when it’s nice outside). You can observe their habitat, the groups, and so on.
