Product Description
Living Like a Refugee is the realization of a lifelong dream for this inspiring band of Sierra Leonean musicians. Each song is an original composition written during their years in exile in the refugee camps. The powerful lyrics speak to the suffering and injustice they have seen but also reverberate with hopeful, optimistic rhythms.Amazon.com

The Refugee All Stars are about hope for a humanity crushed under it’s own weighty greed. The Refugee All Stars are about persevering in the worst imaginable adversity. The Refugee All Stars are about joy in times of intense pain. And most significantly, they are about changing the world through music.

100% UPLIFTING!! 100% ROOTS AND CULTURE!! 100% POSITIVE VIBRATIONS!! 100% INSPIRATION!!

It’s been awhile since i’ve heard sounds like these. In the world of commercial music today this album would be considered alien. In a time of such travesty these musicians came true and real and despite their situation they remained positive and through their music passed on their stories to the listener. These song’s aren’t about girls, money, or status, yet these tunes are more powerful than anything on the radio right now. If you put this album on right at this instance, you’d be tapping your feet to the beats and you’d feel the positive energy through your body. Like listening to Bob Marley and the Wailers messages of injustice, war, freedom, and love. 100% TRUE.

Highly recommend this album. I saw them at the Hollywood Bowl last summer and just had to get their CD. They’re songs tell a great story and their beats-a-rockin’! Big fan of Reggae and these guys did the genre justice!

(Dedicicated To Zulu Chief Shaka)

Hero who surpasses other heroes!
Swallow that disappears in the clouds,
Others disappearing into the heavens!
Son of Menzi!
Viper of Ndaba!
Erect, ready to strike,
It strikes the shields of men!
Father of the cock!
Why did it disappear over the mountains?
It annihilated men!
That is Shaka,
Son of Senzangakhona,
Of whom it is said, Bayede!
You are an elephant!
