Keppra generic name Levetiracetam is an antiepileptic drug used for treating the epilepsy disorder. This medication is used for treating certain seizures in adults and children who is above the age of 4 years. This medication can be also used for treating the clonic seizures in the patient who is above the age of 6 years. Keppar also helps in treating the myoclonic seizures in the patient that is above 12 years of age. This medication sometime can be also used for treating neuropathic pain along with the combination of other medication. Levetiracetam sometime can also be used as a veterinary medication.

 

How should I take this medication?

Keppra Generic medication should be taken accurately as it is recommended by the medical specialist. Do not skip the medicine even if missed take it immediately and if it is time for the next medicine take it at the regular time, but do not take two medicine at a time.  Your doctor might also need to change the dosage and frequency based on how your body responds to the drug. Do not expose Keppar medication in heat, light and moisture always keep in dry and cool place. The patient should check the direction give in the label of the medication. The liquid should be measure to ensure that you are taking the right amount of medicine. Use dose-measuring devices to take care of it. Consult your doctor if you experience any uncommon or side effects.

What are the possible side effects of using this drug?

This medication may cause side effects such as nausea disorder, stomach problem, decrease of appetite, itchy, change of urine color or stools, change of skin or eye color into yellow, risk of seizures, feeling weakness and body- aches. The patient may also experience some of Keppra side effects such as dizzy, drowsy, irritation, headache, throat soreness, runny nose and pain of neck. Beside this, Keppar may also induce allergic reactions like hives, breathlessness, swelling on face, lips, tongue, and throat. It may make the mouth go dry, induce drowsiness and light headedness.

 

What precautions do I need to follow while using Keppra?

This medication should not be stopped suddenly as the sudden withdrawal of this medication can increase the risk of seizures conditions. Lactating mothers should consult their doctor before taking this medication as it might pass into the breast milk and cause harm to the nursed child. Women who are pregnant or planning to get pregnant should not use this without the doctor’s recommendation as it might cause harm to the unborn baby. Patient who is suffering from kidney disorder or allergic to this medication should consult the doctor before using this medication as there is a need of adjustment in the dosage.
