Question by rosesdorule: July 4th is over so I wonder how many uninformed African Americans celebrated the “freedom” attained?
The “colonies” attained “freedom” from British rule and it’s celebrated whole heartedly with fireworks and business closings even the government shuts down. But, this “celebration” has NO BEARING on the African Americans who’s ancestors were slaves. This “freedom” is specifically a caucasian ideal because the slaves were NOT FREE. Imagine that. A country celebrating the joys of being “FREE” while enslaving a people. If that’s not hypocrisy nothing is. There are no fireworks and business closings and the government down not shut down for the celebration of the emancipation proclamation which “freed” the slaves. Their lot was much worse than the caucasians and yet when they were declared “free” no one “celebrated” like with the caucasians freedom. An African American slave was the first to die in the revolution. The Boston Tea Party. However that man rarely if at all gets mentioned in the “history” of the fighting for this new countries “freedom”. Ironic isn’t it.

Firstly I do sort of see your point BUT…
I think you might be a little uninformed yourself seeing as you call them African “Americans”. Is America not just a derivative of Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian? Sure the colonies declared freedom of Britain and the slaves were Africans on another continent. My assumption is July 4th is supposed to be a way in modern times for all you Americans to celebrate your independence and freedom from whatever crippled you in the past.
I have sympathy for the native “American” on 4th July. It must hurt like hell for them too as a group when they are forced to think how this freedom was attained at their expense. At least African Americans had an emancipation. What did they get? Plots of barren land? Bantustans? A raw deal? An entire genre of movies to diss them on film?
Edit
I bet you even get an “American” president before they do!

Nobody is forcing you to celebrate anything. It’s your choice, but since slavery was abolished and segregation is over and oh yeah there is a black guy running for president, you may want to reconsider dumping on America because of sins that were committed by people who have been dead for some time. Or the sins of others that are pretty much dropping dead everyday Like Jesse Helms for example. Oh by the way the word “countries” is the plural form of “country” what you meant to say is this new country’s “freedom”.
