New York City-based singer, songwriter, and pianist Jon Regen has been making his mark on modern music for more than a decade. A protégé of the legendary pianist Kenny Barron, Regen began his career as a sympathetic sideman to renowned jazz artists like Jimmy Scott and Kyle Eastwood. Named Runner-Up in the 1996 Great American Jazz Piano Competition, Regen soon jumped out on his own with a series of critically acclaimed instrumental jazz recordings: From Left To Right (1996), Live at The Blue Note (2000), and Tel Aviv (2001).

In 2004, Regen made an abrupt left turn and released the self-produced, singer/songwriter EP Almost Home. Universally acclaimed throughout the US, Europe, and Asia, the disc formally announced Regen's arrival on the world stage and kick-started a concert career that thrives to this day. Regen followed the EP with his full-length 2008 release Let It Go, which featured appearances by Andy Summers of The Police, Martha Wainwright, and other iconic guests. The album received worldwide praise from critics and listeners alike, and it went on to sell over 5,000 copies without a label or distributor attached. Regen toured for nearly three years in support of Let It Go, enjoying a steady stream of sold-out shows on both sides of the Atlantic.

Regen's new album, entitled Revolution, features a cunning combination of star power both in front of, and behind, the microphone, with guest appearances by musical mavericks like Andy Summers (The Police), Benmont Tench (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers), and others. Regen penned the songs for the album and collaborated as a co-writer with storied songsmiths like Rob Thomas (Matchbox Twenty) and David McAlmont. The album was produced by Regen and keyboard ace Matt Rollings, and it was mixed by Michael Brauer (Coldplay, John Mayer) and John Porter (B.B. King, Ryan Adams).

Tonight's performance at the Blue Note celebrates the release of Revolution, which will take place on September 13th.

(Dedicicated To Zulu Chief Shaka)

Hero who surpasses other heroes!
Swallow that disappears in the clouds,
Others disappearing into the heavens!
Son of Menzi!
Viper of Ndaba!
Erect, ready to strike,
It strikes the shields of men!
Father of the cock!
Why did it disappear over the mountains?
It annihilated men!
That is Shaka,
Son of Senzangakhona,
Of whom it is said, Bayede!
You are an elephant!
